For the fourth consecutive year, the International Conference on Communication and Applied Technologies – ICOMTA has just released the book “Communication and Applied Technologies” with the prestigious publisher Springer (indexed in Scopus). This book features a curated selection of 48 chapters from among the best papers presented at ICOMTA 2024, held at the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences (UPC) in Lima, Peru.
“The selection of articles for this book involves a two-step process. First, we assess the technical quality of each submission using both qualitative evaluation forms and quantitative scores. Then, the editorial committee selects those articles that are most relevant to the central theme of the book—the intersection between communication and applied technologies”, explains Daniel Barredo Ibáñez, from the University of Málaga, and Chair of the ICOMTA International Organizing Committee.
Meanwhile, Paulo López, from the University of Santiago de Compostela and President of the Honorary Committee of the event, notes that this book is “ICOMTA’s flagship”, which is why every detail is carefully managed—from the selection of editors (with a preference for international, interdisciplinary teams), to the editing of the papers (which go through at least two rounds of proof review). “This book captures the essence of that year’s event, as it reflects the flagship contributions of each ICOMTA edition,” says López.
Editorial Team from Spain, Indonesia, and Peru
The editorial team for the book includes representatives from the international ICOMTA organization:
- Daniel Barredo Ibáñez, Emergia Researcher at the University of Málaga (Spain), and Chair of the International Organizing Committee.
- Locally, Eliana Gallardo-Echenique, full-time research professor at the School of Communications at the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences (UPC) and member of the Local Organizing Committee, played a key role.
- Also on the team are Hotniar Siringoringo, professor at Gunadarma University (Indonesia), and Nieves Lagares Díez, professor of Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Santiago de Compostela, and President of the ALICE association.
